You don’t have to go to the other side of the globe to discover paradise because Ibiza boasts some of the most breath-taking coastline, hidden coves and dramatic landscapes and luckily for you we are ready to take you on a journey of some of our favourite hikes to ensure you make the most of your time in Ibiza.

Calo des Moro to Punta Galera

Distance: 8.5 km

The best way to kick off your day is a peaceful hike starting from Calo D’es Moro beach and heading up north towards Cala Gracio and Cala Gracioneta. The walk is relatively easy and always faces the sea so is a popular one for dog walkers. The stunning views of San Antonio and Port Des Torrent provide the perfect backdrop to wake you up and get you ready for the day ahead. If you have time you can walk all the way to the popular restaurant Hostel La Torre for breakfast with a view and on the way back pop in to the Aquarium to learn more about Balearic marine life.

If you’re feeling a little more daring you can continue to Punta Galera where the coastline takes on a different guise with high cliffs and interesting rock formations where you can often see people diving in to the sea below.

Keep on going and you’ll come to the Cala Salada, a beach surrounded by pine trees and turquoise waters which is the perfect spot for taking a dip.

Estimation of time is around three and half hours so just don’t forget to bring decent footwear, a bottle of water and plenty of sun cream!

Atlantis: The Lost City

Distance: 4km (up and down)

If you have an adventurous and spiritual soul then a hiking trip to discover the enchanted and magical Atlantis is the one we recommend for you. It’s a long steep hike down but the rewards at the bottom are totally worth it. You will find a multitude of intriguing rock formations from where the area was excavated centuries ago to build defensive towers and walls to protect the city. Then in the 50’s and 60’s the area was adopted by hippies as their place of worship and you’ll find carvings of buddhas and other hints of worship along your route so it’s a perfect destination for meditation or to just stop for a picnic break plus you can take a little dip in the sea if you so desire.

We recommend to go early in the morning as the sunshine can prove extremely hot and being surrounded only by overhanging cliffs and sea there are no bars or shops to catch a break and the climb back up is not for the faint hearted so we recommend you are familiar with a little exercise.

Reward yourself with the unbeatable views of Es Vedra at the end of your hike which is situated just next door.

Es Cavallet Beach to Ses Salines Beach

Distance: 7,69km

Did you know there’s there’s a natural park in Ibiza? That’s right and it provides some of the most spectacular scenery on the island with its green biodiversity, ponds, salt mountains and beaches making it one of the most important parts of the island. If you’re here late October or during the winter season you might be lucky enough to spot some beautiful flamingos! Yep you read correctly ……. FLAMINGOS!

The starting point is from the main road of Sant Franscesc towards Ses Salines, to be more specific from point PM 802 (you’ll find a bus stop in front). Then take the road that goes to Es Cavallet beach where it all begins with its white sand dunes, clear waters and pure natural beauty. Take note that this is a well known nudist beach so not one for the faint hearted.

You’ll reach a defence tower which dates back to the 16th century and was built to protect the island from pirates, once there turn right and you’ll head to Salinas beach through a rocky path. At Ses Salinas you will find a range of beach bars which in the summer can be quite busy but you will be rewarded with a nice view of Formentera in the distance.

Heaven’s Door at Santa Agnes

Distance:

If you’re after a sunset walk then the hike past Heaven’s Door is the ideal walk for you. Located in north west of the Island, Santa Agnes has a lot to offer, it’s dramatic rocky cliffs combined with pine greenery allows you to reach high points without having to do the big climb. The village is on an elevation of 200 metres above sea level which is quite high in comparison to the rest of the island and you’ll feel the waves breaking at the base of the cliffs below your feet.

You can just park your car where Puertas del Cielo restaurant is located and then start the navigation from there. The hike takes around 90 minutes, depending on how far you want to go of course! Once you’re finished you can make your way back back and find yourself a perfect spot to stay for sunset …. Give yourself enough time to make it back and bring some prosecco and beers!

Sometimes those coming to Ibiza for holidays can only focus on the incredible parties the island has to offer and can often completely miss the opportunity to discover the nature of one of the most beautiful islands in the world.
